Karen Reynolds DVM
Karen grew up in “horse-y” Chester County, Pennsylvania, and spent as much time riding and learning
about horses as possible. She attended Penn State for her undergraduate studies, where she worked at the university-owned Quarter Horse breeding facility. She also competed on the PSU intercollegiate equestrian team and the rugby squad. Her veterinary degree was acquired at Texas A&M University in 2006, with a focus on large animal medicine, and a summer spent working with goats in Africa. Following graduation, she moved into the upstairs room of the clinic at BW Furlong & Associates in New Jersey, a full-service equine medical and surgical facility, to pursue an intensive one-year internship. Under the mentorship provided, she was able to work behind the scenes at 3-day event competitions and spend the winter working with Dr. Furlong in Wellington and Ocala, FL. She also worked with many critical llama and alpaca patients during this year, and developed a love for these unique species. In July 2007, Karen was thrilled to join the Appalachian Equine family, and loves every minute of it, meeting wonderful clients and patients, and enjoying the scenery along the way. Her free moments are spent with her friends, husband, pets, and of course, horses.
